READINGS FOR THE WEEK OF 4/14
Monday: Acts 11:1-18; Jn 10:11-18
Tai Chi and Qi Gong Classes Rediscover Yourself... Health is a positive state of creative self-expression, joy, vitality and harmony–not merely an absence of disease. We all have an innate wisdom that prevention is more precious and wise than cure. If you truly listen, you will hear this inner knowledge speaking to you about how to balance your life and health. This class will share Tai Chi and Qi Gong techniques that nurture, balance, and heal. We will explore movement, breath, massage, visualization, meditation, and our own inner wisdom. You will experience enhanced body awareness, improved balance, strength and flexibility, and increased energy, mental clarity and calmness. Please wear comfortable clothes (layers in case you get too warm or cold), bring water to drink and a towel. Feel free to bring a journal for notes. No previous experience is necessary.

“BASEBALL" Another year has gone by and the St.Francis de Sales softball team is gettingready to start another season of modified fast-pitch softball. The league has 12 regular season games. The season starts around the first week of May and ends after playoffs, which run through the third week of July. We play six of our games weekdays at 6:30 PM against other churches in the Sussex County area. The other six games are played at our home field, which is at the flats on Vernon Crossing Road at 8 PM under the lights. If you feel that you wold like to join us, please call Paul Lucchesi at 973-875-9920 between the hours of 6-8 PM.
Outreach Update Members Needed Dear Friends, The outreach program of St. Francis is involved in many service oriented projects, one of which is the preparation of meals for parishioners in need of help. We have been fortunate these past few years and have had not needed your help and the list has dwindled. However, in the last weeks some of our parish families have been experiencing challenges, thus the reason for this letter. I need to update the list of parishioners who would be willing to prepare and deliver a dinner during the week. If you feel that you would be able to donate your time, talent (even if you don’t consider yourself a great cook!) and treasure to this worthy endeavor, please contact me by phone or email (give your name, address, and phone number) and I will add you to the list. Stewardship calls us to help, but the love and friendship we feel for others can not be understated either. Thanks for your help!

The Outreach Food Pantry The Outreach Food Pantryis a very important part of St. Francis de Sales Church and has been for 27 years. We have been helping approximately 6 families every week. Why do we do this? “When did I feed you, Lord?” “When you did this for the least of my brothers and sisters, you did it for me.” (Matthew 25:35-40) Emergency Pantry Items:
Boxed Soup Mixes Please, we are in need of the following to help stock the food pantry. Don’t say ‘someone else will do it, I don’t have to’.” We ALL need to help feed those in need. The following is a list of items needed: tuna, juice, vegetables, oatmeal, syrup, shelf-stable milk, coffee, soup, shampoo, soap, baby-wash, sauce, pasta, canned fruit or fruit cups, especially applesauce, hot & cold cereal, boxed mashed potatoes, and plastic wrap. If each person could buy just one of the items listed, it would be a tremendous help. May God continue to bless you and hold you in the hollow of His hand.
“Nifty Fifties” or “Boomers” We are looking to start a new ministry at St. Francis called the “Nifty Fifties” or “Boomers” (name to still be determined). The purpose of the ministry would be primarily social. We have raised our families (and did a great job too!). Now it’s time to have fun to do all or some of the different things we wish we could do. We can schedule an array of activities ranging from the cultural to the physical to the somewhat off-the-wall. In addition, as a group, the activities become more afforable to all of us. We are the generation with places to go, people to see, and different things to do. It can include some or all of the following: travel trips, day trips, guest speakers, dinners and topical issues, etc. You decide which activities appeal to you and fit into your schedule. It couldn’t be more convenient. There is no pressure and only a few requirements, the first being that you have fun. You can be a couple, single, or widowed. This might be just the club you are looking for. This is an excellent opportunity to make new friends, see new places, save money, and just plain, have fun! Please bring your ideas and suggestions and join us on Monday, April 14, 2008, at 7:30 PM in the social hall for a brainstorming session on the fun and informative things to do. For further information, or to add suggestions, please call Laura Blank at 973-764-1231 or email LauraBme@Gmail.com.
St. Francis de Sales ANNUAL GOLF OUTING JUNE 6 at WILD TURKEY GOLF COURSE DON’T MISS OUT! CALL THE OFFICE TO REGISTER
Your Spring Cleaning St. Francis de Sales will be holding our annual Silent Auction, Dinner Show entitled “Second Chance” on Saturday, October 11, 2008. Over $9,000 was raised at last year’s auction, the profits from which established an Emergency Relief Fund for needy parishioners and members of our community. Fr. Boland is the sole distributor of these funds at his discretion. We will be looking to make this year’s event even more successful, and here’s how you can help. Tickets will be very affordable at $20 each. Door prizes and silent auction items will be collected throughout the year. As you start your “Spring cleaning,” please keep this event in mind; and if you have items that are in good condition in your attic, basement or garage, please put them aside for contribution to this worthy cause. Your donations are tax deductible, and we will provide you with the necessary forms to submit with your tax information. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or comments and to let us know what items you are putting aside for this very important event. It takes many months to plan for this special evening, and the more information we can collect early makes all the difference!

Tending the Garden Holiness Is... Holiness is not something that comes from doing good; we do good because we are holy. Holiness is not something we acquire by avoiding evil; we avoid evil because we are holy. Holiness is not something that follows from prayer; we pray because we are holy. Holiness is not the result of kindness; we are kind because we are holy. Holiness is not something that blossoms when we are courageous; we are courageous because we are holy. Holiness is not the result of character building; we build character because we are holy. Holiness is not a gift we obtain after a lifetime of service; we give service because we are holy Our holiness is God with us, Emmanuel. And while it’s true that holiness carries with it both the Cross and Resurrection, it is more a gift than a reward. Fr. John Catior

Prayer for Vocations Send forth Your Spirit, Lord, into the hearts of Your faithful people, that we may be conscious of our vocation to holiness and service to others. Grant that many of us may dedicate ourselves to You through the priesthood, religious life and the lay ministries. We pray especially for the needs of our own parish and diocese. Grant that we may always have sufficient good and holy priests, dedicated Sisters and committed lay ministries to serve our communities. We make this prayer through Jesus Christ Our Lord Amen.
